Gombe Youths Steal Food Items from “Seyi Tinubu” Trailer
On March 24, 2025, in Gombe State, a truck loaded with Ramadan palliatives intended for distribution was looted by a group of youths. The palliatives, organized by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were meant to support less privileged individuals during the Iftar meal in the holy month of Ramadan. The truck contained cartons of food items, including rice, sugar, oil, salt, and pasta.
While one truck’s contents had been successfully distributed, the second was intercepted and emptied by the youths
This incident highlights the challenges faced in the equitable distribution of aid during critical periods. In the past, residents of Gombe State have expressed concerns over the alleged diversion and mishandling of palliative distributions.
To address economic hardships, the Gombe State government has initiated several palliative distribution exercises aimed at supporting vulnerable populations. For instance, in August 2024, the government approved the distribution of essential food items to local government areas and various groups.
