Nigerian Govt to Release N77000 Allowance for Corps Members

Corps Members Set to Receive Delayed N77,000 Allowance

The Nigerian government has announced plans to pay the backlog of the newly approved N77,000 monthly allowance to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). This follows the increase from the previous N33,000 allowance, which was approved in September 2024 but has faced implementation delays.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, assured that efforts are underway to ensure that both current corps members and those who were serving when the increment was announced will receive the arrears. He stated, “The backlog, we will work on it and make sure it is paid. It may not be immediate, but it will happen.”

The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, also confirmed that payments are expected to commence by the end of March 2025.
