Diddy Triumphs in Rodney Jones’ Sexual Assault Lawsuit
A U.S. federal judge has dismissed five of the nine claims in the $30 million lawsuit filed by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones against Sean “Diddy” Combs. The dismissed claims include those related to racketeering (RICO), breach of contract, and emotional distress.
However, the court has allowed the claims of sexual assault, premises liability, and violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) to proceed.
Jones alleges that between September 2022 and November 2023, while working on Combs’ “Love” album, he was subjected to sexual harassment, drugging, and assault by Combs and his team. The judge found insufficient evidence for the RICO and breach of contract claims but deemed the sexual assault and TVPA allegations plausible, allowing them to move forward.
Jones’ attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, views the partial ruling as a victory and anticipates further proceedings. Meanwhile, Combs is facing additional legal challenges, including federal sex trafficking charges, with a trial scheduled for May 5.
