New FRSC Policy: Impounding Vehicles with Animals Onboard
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced plans to impound vehicles that transport animals alongside human passengers. This measure aims to address the dangers associated with “mixed loading,” a practice where humans and animals are transported together in the same vehicle.
Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, the FRSC Sector Commander for Ondo State, emphasized that enforcement efforts are ongoing to curb this practice. He stated, “We are not taking it for granted; we will arrest and impound vehicles caught in such an act.” The FRSC is collaborating with stakeholders to caution drivers against this behavior and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Similarly, in Ogun State, FRSC Sector Commander Anthony Uga highlighted the risks associated with transporting humans and animals together, noting that such practices have resulted in road accident fatalities. He warned that any driver caught violating this rule would face penalties, and their vehicle would be impounded.
