Fraud Case Verdict: Sean Kingston and Mother Found Guilty
Singer Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty on all charges in their federal wire fraud trial. The convictions stem from a scheme involving over $1 million in stolen funds, where they falsely represented executing bank transfers to acquire luxury items such as vehicles and jewelry without actual payment.
Both were convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud, each carrying a potential 20-year prison sentence. Kingston, emotional upon hearing the verdict, has been placed under house arrest with electronic monitoring until sentencing on July 11, 2025.
He is required to post a surety bond comprising a $500,000 home and $200,000 in cash. Turner, deemed a flight risk due to her past criminal history and central role in the scheme, was taken into custody immediately.
The fraudulent activities included using fake wire transfer receipts as proof of payment for high-end items. A key piece of evidence was a text message from Kingston to his mother instructing her to create a fake receipt to make it appear that a transfer would be completed in a few days.
This conviction marks a significant development in the legal troubles for Kingston, known for his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls.” Both he and his mother face substantial prison time, with sentencing scheduled for July 11, 2025.
