Intense Gun Battle in Taraba: Troops Save Kidnap Victims
On March 29, 2025, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force stationed at Samta, successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt near Muji Town along the Takum-Jalingo road in Taraba State.
Acting on a distress call from road users, the security forces swiftly mobilized to the scene, where armed kidnappers had ambushed an 18-seater Toyota bus. Upon arrival, the troops engaged the assailants in a fierce gun battle, utilizing superior firepower that compelled the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee into the forest.
Two individuals were rescued during the operation: Mr. Yakubu Usman, a resident of Angwan Abuja in Takum, and Mr. Godwin Peter from Angwan Dadin Kowa, who sustained injuries during the attack. Mr. Peter was promptly transported to a medical facility for treatment, while the remaining passengers continued their journey safely.
Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Brigade spokesperson, emphasized the commitment of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in Taraba State and beyond. He urged the public to provide timely and credible information to aid security agencies in their efforts to combat criminal activities.
