
Ebonyi Abduction: Government Official Missing, Investigation Ongoing
In the early hours of Thursday, April 3, 2025, Mrs. Blessing Adagba, the Coordinator of the Ngbo Central Development Centre in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was abducted from her residence in the Okposhi Eheku community.
The assailants, who disguised themselves as soldiers, forcibly entered her home around midnight, demanding she open the door. Upon her refusal, they brandished firearms, overpowered her, and took her to an undisclosed location.
The Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is actively working to secure Mrs. Adagba’s release. SP Joshua Ukandu, the command’s spokesperson, stated that the Anti-Kidnapping Squad has been deployed and is diligently pursuing leads to ensure her safe return.
As of Friday, reports indicate that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N30 million for her release.
This abduction has heightened concerns among residents, prompting local leaders and stakeholders to intensify efforts to assist in the rescue operation. Community leaders have expressed deep concern over the rising spate of such criminal acts, urging security agencies to intensify their efforts and calling for enhanced protection for residents.
Residents and officials alike are hopeful for Mrs. Adagba’s swift and safe return, as investigations continue and efforts to meet the demands of the abductors are evaluated.
