Southampton’s EPL Journey Ends with Tottenham Loss
Southampton FC has been relegated from the Premier League following a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on April 6, 2025. This marks the earliest relegation in Premier League history, with seven matches still remaining in the season.
In the match, Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson scored twice in the first half, and Mathys Tel added a penalty in stoppage time. Mateus Fernandes netted a late goal for Southampton, but it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome.
Southampton’s relegation comes after a challenging season, having accumulated only 10 points from 31 matches, leaving them 22 points from safety. This downturn follows their promotion to the top flight just last season.
