Troops Neutralize Bandits and Recover Ammunition in Taraba

Successful Operation: Troops Destroy Camps in Taraba

​Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully neutralized three bandits and dismantled over 70 criminal hideouts in Taraba State. The operation, conducted on April 5, 2025, targeted bandit hideouts in the Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA). Troops advanced through the Achalle and Chibi areas, engaging bandits who attempted to flee upon sighting the military.

In the ensuing firefight, three bandits were neutralized, and several makeshift camps were destroyed. Additionally, two motorcycles, one AK-47 magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered. Over 70 criminal camps in the Dutsen Zaki and Achalle axis were dismantled, indicating the effectiveness of sustained military operations.

Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their resilience and assured residents of Taraba State that efforts would continue to rid the area of criminal elements. He urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.

This operation is part of the broader Operation Lafiya Jamaa, aimed at eradicating banditry and restoring security across Taraba State.​
