Arsenal’s Win Leads to Inspector’s Sudden Collapse in Calabar
Inspector Stephen Enang, a dedicated officer with the Nigerian Police Force, tragically passed away on Tuesday evening, April 8, 2025, in Calabar, Cross River State. Enang, an ardent Arsenal supporter, was watching the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match between Arsenal and Real Madrid at a local viewing center on Abang-Asang Street. Witnesses reported that he was in high spirits, celebrating each of Arsenal’s three goals during their 3-0 victory. However, after the final whistle, he was found unresponsive in his seat. Despite being rushed to the Police Hospital in Akim, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Inspector Enang was attached to the Akim Police Division along IBB Way in Calabar and hailed from Ekori in the Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State. His sudden demise has left colleagues and friends in shock, remembering him as a soft-spoken individual and a passionate football enthusiast.
The match in question was a UEFA Champions League fixture, where Arsenal secured a 3-0 victory over Real Madrid. However, it’s important to note that, as of April 9, 2025, there is no official record of such a match occurring between these two teams on that date. This discrepancy raises questions about the specifics of the event and the circumstances surrounding the reported match.
The Cross River State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer, SP Irene Ugbo, have been unsuccessful as calls and messages remain unanswered.
