Man, 35, Sets Girlfriend, 64, on Fire for Excessive Talking
A 35-year-old man from Waco, Texas, has been arrested for allegedly causing severe burns to his 67-year-old girlfriend by intentionally spilling scalding-hot soup on her. The incident reportedly occurred on February 28, when the suspect, Alexander Alton McDavid, became angry, claiming the victim was “talking too much.”
According to authorities, McDavid struck the plate of hot soup the victim was retrieving from the microwave, causing the liquid to spill on her right shoulder and forearm, resulting in third-degree burns. The victim was unable to seek immediate medical attention due to lack of access to a phone or transportation. She reported the incident to the police days later during a visit to the Social Security Office.
The victim disclosed that she and McDavid had been in a relationship for about a year, during which he had a history of physical abuse, including choking her. McDavid has prior convictions for family violence in 2017 and 2021.
He was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including assault with bodily injury with a previous conviction, injury to the elderly, continuous violence against family, resisting arrest, and making a terroristic threat against a family member. His bond is set at $130,000.
