Family Violence: 17-Year-Old Girl’s Death at Hands of Father and Stepmother
In a tragic incident in Nyanga, eastern Zimbabwe, 17-year-old Rumbidzai Kamupira was brutally beaten to death by her father, Chakupiwa Kamupira, 48, and stepmother, Maria Chibego, 38, on July 14, 2025, after she failed to sleep at home the previous night.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrests, stating that Chibego initially assaulted Rumbidzai with open hands and a switch, and Kamupira joined in with a switch as well. The teenager collapsed during the assault and was rushed to a local clinic, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident occurred at Chimusasa Business Centre, and police are continuing their investigation, though no details were provided on where Rumbidzai had been the night before. The case, reported on X by the ZRP on July 15, 2025, has sparked outrage, with no further updates on the motive or additional arrests.
