Oyo Mourns Loss of Popular Skit Creator Sanku Comedy in Traffic Incident
A tragic accident has claimed the life of Nigerian skit maker and content creator Raji Samad Adetola, popularly known as Mr Sanku Comedy. The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Monday along the Oyo–Ogbomoso Road in Ibadan, Oyo State. Sanku was said to be traveling with a friend when their vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a ditch.
Both men were rushed to the hospital but were confirmed dead shortly after their arrival.Sanku Comedy began his journey into content creation in 2021 and quickly built a name for himself with his unique style of skits that connected strongly with social media audiences.
By 2024, he had gained significant popularity, particularly on TikTok, where his humorous storytelling earned him a loyal following. His last video, posted just a day before the accident, carried a caption about living long enough to reap the fruits of hard work. That message has since taken on a deeply emotional meaning for his fans.The news of his passing spread quickly across social media, sparking grief and tributes from colleagues and admirers.
Actress Funmi Awelewa expressed her heartbreak, noting that a movie project she worked on with him was yet to be released. Fellow skit makers such as Ozain Comedy, Jidex, and Eregele also paid their respects, with many describing him as a bright star whose light was extinguished too soon.
His death has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s online entertainment community. For many fans, the loss is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be, while for his colleagues, it marks the passing of a creative mind who had only just begun to make his mark in comedy.
