A former chieftain of the Labour Party has alleged that Peter Obi, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, borrowed his one-term presidency pledge from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking in an interview, the ex-party leader explained that Atiku had initially promised to serve only one term if elected president in 2019, a commitment he claimed Obi later adopted during his 2023 campaign. According to him, Obi’s proposal was not an original idea but a recycled strategy aimed at attracting broad support across Nigeria’s political divide.
