How FG’s YouthCred Loan Scheme Can Benefit Nigerian Youth Entrepreneurs
The Federal Government has unveiled a new initiative aimed at empowering Nigerian youths through easy access to loans. The scheme, known as YouthCred, was launched in Lagos by the Credit Corporation of Nigeria (CREDICORP) with the target of reaching more than 400,000 young entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the launch, officials said the programme is designed to address funding challenges faced by small businesses and startups owned by young people. YouthCred will provide affordable loans without the usual hurdles of collateral, allowing more youths to access financial support to grow their businesses.
CREDICORP emphasized that the scheme is part of its broader strategy to stimulate entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment, and boost economic development. Beneficiaries will receive training in financial management and business development to ensure proper use of funds and sustainability.
Government representatives at the event reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigerian youths, describing them as the backbone of national growth. Stakeholders also expressed optimism that the initiative will curb poverty and promote self-reliance among young Nigerians.
