Obidient Movement backs Moghalu in Anambra poll
The Obidient Movement has thrown its weight behind former presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu in the upcoming Anambra governorship election, pledging to mobilize massive support to secure his victory.
Leaders of the movement, which grew out of the 2023 campaign of Labour Party’s Peter Obi, said their decision followed extensive consultations with grassroots supporters across the state. They described Moghalu as a credible, competent, and visionary leader capable of transforming Anambra’s governance.
At a rally in Awka, coordinators of the group vowed to deploy the same energy and grassroots mobilization that made the Obidient Movement a formidable force in the last general elections. They assured Moghalu that they would deliver “overwhelming votes” to ensure he emerges victorious at the polls.
Moghalu, in his remarks, thanked the group for its endorsement, promising to prioritize good governance, youth empowerment, and infrastructural renewal if elected. He also urged supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and focused on the goal of “a better Anambra for all.”
Political observers say the Obidient Movement’s support could significantly shape the outcome of the election, given its strong influence among young voters and urban communities.
