NAF airstrikes terrorists Borno Yobe
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its fighter jets carried out successful airstrikes in Borno and Yobe States, killing at least 25 terrorists.
In a statement released on Saturday, NAF said the precision strikes targeted terrorist hideouts and logistics camps used by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters. The operation, part of ongoing counterinsurgency efforts in the North-East, was conducted after credible intelligence revealed the locations of the camps.
According to military sources, the strikes destroyed several makeshift structures, weapons storage facilities, and vehicles used by the insurgents. Survivors of the attack reportedly fled into surrounding forests, where ground troops are carrying out mop-up operations.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF spokesperson, said the operation underscores the military’s resolve to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace to the region. He assured Nigerians that joint forces remain committed to maintaining pressure on insurgents until total victory is achieved.
Security analysts say the strikes will significantly disrupt terrorist activities in the affected states, though they caution that continued vigilance and community cooperation are essential to sustaining the gains.
