Shettima departs Abuja for UN General Assembly
Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on Sunday departed Abuja for New York, United States, where he is scheduled to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
According to a statement from the presidency, Shettima will lead the Nigerian delegation to high-level meetings, where discussions will focus on global peace, security, climate change, and sustainable development.
While in New York, the Vice President is expected to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, international development partners, and top executives of global financial institutions to attract investments into Nigeria.
He is also billed to address sessions on Africa’s economic transformation, food security, and energy transition, reflecting Nigeria’s policy priorities.
The Nigerian delegation includes senior government officials, ministers, and representatives from key sectors.
The 79th UNGA, which opens this week, brings together heads of state and government from across the globe to deliberate on pressing international issues.
