Flying Eagles World Cup preparation
Nigeria’s U-20 men’s team, the Flying Eagles, kicked off their preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Chile in a friendly match.
The game, played at a training camp in Spain, saw both sides test new strategies and players ahead of the global tournament. The Flying Eagles took the lead in the first half through a well-taken strike before Chile equalized shortly after the restart.
Coach Ladan Bosso expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, noting that the encounter provided valuable insights into areas that require improvement.
“This was a good test for us. The boys showed fighting spirit, but we still need to work on finishing and defensive coordination,” Bosso said.
The friendly is part of a series of international test games arranged by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure the Flying Eagles are battle-ready for the World Cup.
Fans are optimistic that with more quality opposition in the buildup, the team will be able to replicate or surpass past successes, including their memorable runner-up finish in 2005 and 1989.
