Denmark airport drone scare
Authorities in Denmark temporarily shut down operations at a major airport twice in one day following reports of unauthorized drone activity in restricted airspace.
The incidents, which occurred at Copenhagen Airport, forced the suspension of take-offs and landings, causing delays and diversions of several international flights.
Airport officials confirmed that air traffic was halted for safety reasons after pilots and security teams detected drones flying dangerously close to flight paths.
“The safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority. Any violation of airspace regulations will be dealt with firmly,” an airport spokesperson said.
Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible, warning that operating drones near airports violates aviation laws and could attract heavy penalties, including imprisonment.
Drone-related disruptions have been on the rise across Europe, with aviation experts calling for stricter enforcement and improved detection technologies to safeguard air traffic.
Passengers affected by the shutdown expressed frustration but acknowledged the importance of prioritizing safety over convenience.
