Five Nigerians Score Nominations Ahead of 2026 Grammy Awards
Five Nigerian music stars have secured nominations ahead of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, underscoring the continued global rise of Nigerian music and its influence on the international stage. The awards ceremony is slated for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, USA, where nominees from around the world will compete for music’s most prestigious honours.
Leading the Nigerian contingent is Burna Boy, who received two Grammy nominations. He is nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his hit song “Love” and also in the Best Global Music Album category for his acclaimed project No Sign of Weakness. His double nomination reinforces his reputation as one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.
Davido also earned a nomination for his collaboration with Omah Lay on the track “With You” in the Best African Music Performance category. The song, which has gained global acclaim and substantial streaming numbers, adds to Davido’s growing list of international recognitions.
Among those nominated is Ayra Starr, who secured a nod for “Gimme Dat”, a track featuring Wizkid, in the same category. Wizkid, one of Nigeria’s most internationally celebrated artists, also earns recognition through his feature on the song, adding another Grammy nomination to his career achievements.
Omah Lay completes the list of five Nigerians nominated this year. His feature on “With You” alongside Davido earned him his first Grammy nomination, marking a significant milestone in his career as he continues to rise as a global music figure.
