Ukraine Ready for Talks With US Over Russia Proposals as War Enters Fourth Year — Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine is ready to hold talks with the United States next week regarding proposals linked to Russia, as the war triggered by Moscow’s invasion enters its fourth year.
Zelensky made the announcement while addressing recent diplomatic efforts aimed at exploring possible pathways toward ending the conflict. He said Kyiv remains open to discussions with its key allies, particularly Washington, on any proposals that could impact Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
According to the Ukrainian leader, any engagement over Russia-related proposals would be guided by Ukraine’s core principles, including the restoration of its internationally recognized borders and guarantees for long-term security. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine would not accept terms imposed under pressure or those that undermine its independence.
The war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties, massive displacement, and widespread destruction of infrastructure across Ukraine. Despite ongoing fighting, diplomatic activity has continued behind the scenes, with Western allies weighing different approaches to sustaining support for Kyiv.
