#EndBadGovernance: Protest Against Tinubu’s Economic Policies
The organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest, scheduled for October 1, 2024, have written to the Nigerian Police requesting security for participants during the demonstration.
This protest aims to address widespread dissatisfaction with economic policies under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, including fuel price hikes, inflation, and other issues exacerbating hardship in the country.
The organizers, including groups like the Education Rights Campaign (ERC), have cited the Police Establishment Act of 2020 to emphasize the police’s obligation to protect peaceful protesters.
The protest, tagged “National Day of Survival,” is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. at Ikeja under bridge in Lagos, with participants marching through various streets. Organizers have also highlighted that this protest follows unmet demands from earlier demonstrations and will continue to press for better governance and economic relief.
