Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has firmly denied claims questioning her gender identity, stating that she is a woman and expressing willingness to undergo genetic testing by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.
Khelif, who has been at the center of online debates and public scrutiny following her recent appearances in international competitions, said the speculation surrounding her gender has been deeply distressing. She stressed that she was born a woman and has competed in women’s boxing throughout her career in line with established rules and regulations.
“I’m not transgender. I’m a woman,” Khelif said, adding that she has nothing to hide and is open to any medical or genetic assessments required by Olympic authorities to put the controversy to rest.
