Nigerian Injured in Iran Missile Attack on UAE Amid Escalating Conflict
At least one Nigerian national has been reported injured after Iran launched a fresh wave of missiles toward the United Arab Emirates, as the conflict in the Middle East continues to intensify.
According to reports, the injuries occurred when the UAE’s air defence systems intercepted incoming ballistic missiles fired by Iran. Debris from the intercepted projectiles reportedly fell in populated areas, leaving several people wounded.
Authorities said the Nigerian was among dozens of individuals injured during the incident. The attack is part of an ongoing escalation in the region that has seen repeated missile and drone launches targeting Gulf countries.
Officials indicated that more than 100 people have sustained injuries during the latest wave of attacks, with victims including residents and expatriates of different nationalities living in the UAE.
The strikes come amid a widening regional conflict involving Iran and a coalition aligned with Israel and the United States. Since the escalation began in late February 2026, Iran has launched numerous ballistic missiles and drones toward targets across the Gulf region.
UAE authorities reported that their air defence systems have intercepted most of the incoming missiles, preventing greater damage. However, fragments from intercepted weapons and falling debris have still caused injuries and property damage in several areas.
Emergency responders and medical teams were quickly deployed to affected locations to assist victims and secure the sites where debris fell.
The UAE government has not yet released detailed information about the condition of the injured Nigerian, but officials confirmed that several expatriates were among those receiving medical attention.
The United Arab Emirates hosts a large international population, including thousands of Nigerian nationals who work and live across cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Residents across the Gulf region have reported hearing loud explosions and seeing air defence systems intercepting missiles in the sky during recent attacks.
Security officials say the strikes have targeted various locations, including infrastructure and strategic facilities, although many missiles have been destroyed before reaching their intended targets.
The ongoing hostilities have heightened fears of a broader regional war, with global leaders urging restraint and calling for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
International observers warn that continued attacks could disrupt critical energy infrastructure and global shipping routes in the Gulf region, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, several governments have issued travel warnings to their citizens living in or traveling to parts of the Middle East as the situation remains volatile.
For Nigerian citizens in the UAE and surrounding countries, the incident has raised concerns about safety as tensions continue to escalate.
Diplomatic missions and consulates in the region are reportedly monitoring the situation closely and providing assistance where necessary.
As the conflict continues, authorities are urging residents to follow official safety instructions and remain alert during missile interception alerts.
The latest attack underscores the growing humanitarian and security risks posed by the escalating confrontation in the Middle East.
