Six Arrested in Ambazonian Conflict: Weapons Seized
Six suspected Ambazonian separatists were arrested by the Cross River State police in Akamkpa Local Government Area.
The arrests were made following intelligence reports, and the suspects were found with weapons and explosives, including a machine gun, an AK-47 rifle, and various magazines.
The individuals, aged between 18 and 36, are believed to be part of the ongoing conflict between Ambazonian separatists and the Cameroonian government, known as the Anglophone Crisis.
This conflict has seen separatist groups seeking independence for the Anglophone regions of Cameroon.
The case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution, as authorities continue to look into the scope of their activities in the region.
These arrests mark a significant breakthrough for Nigerian law enforcement as they work to manage cross-border separatist tensions that occasionally spill into Nigerian territories.
