Dangote’s Bold Claims: Fuel Queues Could Disappear with Marketer Support
Aliko Dangote has stated that the persistent fuel queues in Nigeria will diminish once fuel marketers start taking up the available petrol from his refinery.
He emphasized that Dangote’s refinery has about 500 million liters of petrol ready for distribution, which could supply the country for over 12 days without imports.
Dangote expressed frustration that fuel marketers are not lifting the products despite the refinery’s capacity to meet demand.
He pointed out that if marketers actively collected the petrol, it would alleviate the fuel shortages observed at filling stations across the country.
Additionally, the Federal Government has recently authorized marketers to buy petrol directly from local refineries like Dangote’s, which aims to create a more competitive market environment and streamline the supply chain
This shift is part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the fuel supply and pricing in Nigeria, especially as petrol prices have surged to over N1,025 in Lagos and N1,050 in Abuja.
