Unregistered Condoms in Nigeria: NAFDAC’s Latest Safety Warning
NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control) has issued a warning to Nigerians about the sale and distribution of unregistered condoms in the country.
The agency cautioned that these unapproved products, which have not undergone proper quality checks, pose potential health risks to users.
NAFDAC emphasized the importance of using only registered products that meet regulatory standards to ensure consumer safety, as unregistered condoms may not offer reliable protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or unintended pregnancies.
NAFDAC urged Nigerians to be vigilant, encouraging consumers to check for the agency’s registration number on condom packaging to confirm authenticity.
They also warned retailers to avoid stocking unregistered brands, as regulatory enforcement will be carried out to address the issue.
