Urgent: Report Reveals Hunger to Affect 133M Nigerians by 2025
A recent report reveals that hunger in Nigeria is projected to worsen by 2025, with over 33 million people—about 30% more than the previous year—expected to face severe food insecurity.
This crisis is driven by multiple factors, including soaring inflation, high food prices, flooding, and insecurity in agricultural regions.
As of now, more than 24 million Nigerians are already experiencing food scarcity, and the situation is expected to worsen by mid-2025, especially in the lean season between June and August.
The crisis is particularly dire in northern states, where the destruction of crops due to floods exacerbates the issue.
