Abdullahi Sule: Northern Governors Back Tax Changes, Push for Fair VAT Share
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has clarified that Northern governors are not opposed to ongoing tax reforms in Nigeria but have concerns about the distribution formula for Value Added Tax (VAT).
According to Sule, the governors are advocating for a fairer system that considers the unique economic realities of the Northern region, which may not generate as much VAT revenue as wealthier southern states.
This statement comes amid broader debates over fiscal federalism and revenue sharing in Nigeria.
Sule emphasized that the goal is to ensure equity and sustainable development across all regions of the country.
