Agunloye’s Lawyer Reprimanded for Delaying Tactics in Mambilla Project Lawsuit
In the ongoing trial regarding the alleged $6 billion Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Station fraud, the lawyer of former Minister of Power and Steel, Olu Agunloye, has been reprimanded by the judge for using delay tactics.
The case, being heard in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, involves charges of fraudulent contract awards and corruption against Agunloye.
At the latest hearing, Agunloye’s defense lawyer, Adeola Adedipe (SAN), raised procedural objections, including a request for the court to dismiss the charges based on jurisdictional grounds.
The judge expressed frustration with what he deemed unnecessary delays, noting that the motions filed by the defense were designed to stall proceedings.
Despite these tactics, the court proceeded with setting new dates for the continuation of the trial.
