Inside Kamala Harris’ $2.5 Million Deal with Oprah Winfrey’s Company for Town Hall
Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign reportedly paid Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions approximately $2.5 million to host a celebrity-packed town hall event in September 2024.
This amount was significantly higher than initial estimates of $1 million.
The payment covered production costs, including set design, crew, and equipment, but Oprah clarified that she did not personally receive any compensation.
She emphasized that the funds were solely for covering production expenses.
The Harris campaign, which replaced President Biden as the Democratic nominee, operated one of the most expensive campaigns, with expenditures totaling $1.5 billion.
This included significant investments in grassroots efforts, advertising, and celebrity endorsements, such as this town hall event, which featured high-profile figures like Julia Roberts and Chris Rock.
