Central Sudan Attack: 40 Killed in Deadly Paramilitary Assault
At least 40 civilians were killed in a devastating attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the village of Gouz Al-Naqa in Sudan’s Gezira State.
The attack, reportedly targeting unarmed civilians, has been described as a massacre by local resistance committees.
This incident is part of the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which began in April 2023 and has resulted in thousands of civilian deaths and widespread displacement.
The conflict has intensified in Gezira State after the defection of a senior RSF commander to the SAF.
The paramilitary forces have been accused of retaliating by targeting defenseless civilians.
Reports suggest that more than 120 people were killed in related attacks across the state in recent weeks, with many injured and significant damage to civilian areas.
The UN and humanitarian groups have expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where millions face violence, displacement, and food insecurity.
