An ex-aide of the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has testified in court about delivering $400,000 on Emefiele’s instructions.
The aide claimed the money was provided by contractors and given under duress, suggesting it was tied to influencing contract awards.
The testimony came during an ongoing investigation by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into allegations of corruption and financial misconduct against Emefiele.
Emefiele, who faces multiple charges, has denied any wrongdoing, stating that all transactions and instructions during his tenure adhered to established regulations.
