AC Milan have dismissed head coach Paulo Fonseca after less than six months in charge, following a 1-1 draw against AS Roma that left the team in eighth place in Serie A, 14 points behind leaders Atalanta.
Fonseca, who took over from Stefano Pioli in June 2024, managed only seven wins in 17 league matches, leading to his departure.
The club swiftly appointed former Porto manager Sérgio Conceição as his replacement.
Conceição, who signed a contract until June 30, 2026, previously led Porto to multiple domestic titles over seven years.
His first match in charge is expected to be the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final against Juventus on January 3, where he could face his son, Francisco Conceição, who is on loan at Juventus.
