Amaechi’s Call for Protest: APC Responds to Growing Economic Frustration

Nigerian Government Criticizes Amaechi’s Protest Statements Amid Economic Crisis

The Federal Government of Nigeria recently criticized former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for his comments urging Nigerian youths to protest the rising cost of living and economic hardships.

Amaechi expressed frustration over the lack of visible public dissent despite increasing inflation and high fuel prices, claiming that citizens should be outraged and protesting in the streets.

In response, the All Progressives Congress (APC) labeled Amaechi’s statements as “irresponsible and unpatriotic,” accusing him of inciting unrest.

The party’s spokesperson, Felix Morka, highlighted that Amaechi, having been a prominent figure in Nigerian governance for over two decades, should not be fueling such rhetoric, especially as the current economic challenges are partly due to the necessary reforms being implemented by the government.

The APC also argued that calls for protest would only destabilize the nation, urging citizens to remain patient as the administration works on stabilizing the economy.

The government reiterated that the hardships are a result of essential reforms that will eventually benefit the country.
