Denver Airport Incident: American Airlines Plane Catches Fire

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, an American Airlines Boeing 737-800, operating as Flight 1006 from Colorado Springs to Dallas-Fort Worth, was diverted to Denver International Airport due to reported engine vibrations.

After landing at approximately 5:15 p.m., the aircraft experienced an engine fire while taxiing to the gate. All 172 passengers and six crew members were safely evacuated using emergency slides. Twelve individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals.

Passengers reported visible smoke and flames emanating from the engine, leading to a swift evacuation. Some evacuees were observed standing on the aircraft’s wing before descending to the tarmac. Emergency responders promptly extinguished the fire.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the engine fire. American Airlines has stated that all passengers were accommodated and that a replacement aircraft was dispatched to continue the journey to Dallas-Fort Worth.
