Amnesty International has reported that over 10,000 individuals have died in military custody in Nigeria during the counter-insurgency efforts against Boko Haram.
According to the human rights organization, many of these deaths were caused by severe overcrowding, malnutrition, disease, and inhumane treatment in detention facilities.
The report criticizes the Nigerian military’s handling of detainees and calls for accountability and improved conditions.
