Peter Obi Accused by APC of Being a ‘Doomsayer’: Latest Developments

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, accusing him of attempting to incite Nigerians against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

This response follows Obi’s New Year message, where he expressed concerns over increasing corruption, mismanagement, poverty, hardship, and a rising debt profile under Tinubu’s leadership over the past 18 months.

In a statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described Obi’s remarks as misleading and an effort to gain political advantage.

Morka labeled Obi as Nigeria’s “leading doomsayer,” asserting that the country is experiencing significant improvements across various sectors. He also criticized Obi’s tenure as Governor of Anambra State, claiming it lacked notable achievements.

Additionally, the APC took issue with Obi’s suggestion that President Tinubu should utilize Nigerian healthcare facilities instead of seeking medical treatment abroad. Obi argued that such actions would boost public confidence in the nation’s health institutions and reduce medical tourism.

The APC warned Obi against inciting public sentiment against the President, especially regarding claims that the administration has not effectively addressed economic and security challenges.
