Washington DC Plane Crash Footage Leak: Two Arrested

Two employees of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) have been arrested for allegedly leaking surveillance footage of the recent midair collision between an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Washington, D.C. The crash, which occurred over the Potomac River, resulted in the deaths of all 67 individuals on board both aircraft.

The arrested individuals, identified as Mohamed Lamine Mbengue, 21, of Rockville, Maryland, and Jonathan Savoy, 45, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, have been charged with computer trespass under Virginia law. They are accused of making unauthorized copies of official airport records, specifically the surveillance footage capturing the fatal collision.

The leaked video, which aired on CNN, provided a detailed view of the collision and was reportedly captured on cellphones. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

The MWAA has emphasized the seriousness of unauthorized disclosures and is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is also conducting a separate investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
