On March 1, 2025, armed bandits abducted five officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kaura Namoda South in Zamfara State. The officials were en route to the residence of Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari in Mafara when their convoy was ambushed. Among those kidnapped are Yahaya Sani Dogon Kade, Chairman of Dan Isah Ward, and Bello Dealer, Chairman of Sakajiki Ward.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Zamfara State, where banditry and kidnappings have been persistent issues. Efforts to address these challenges have included both military interventions and attempts at dialogue with bandit groups.
The state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working to ensure the safe release of the abducted APC officials and to enhance security measures to prevent future occurrences.
