Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has suspended the state’s Attorney General, Bemsen Mnyim, for joining a lawsuit that challenges the legality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
The governor expressed disapproval of the Attorney General’s decision to engage in the legal action without his approval or consultation.
Governor Alia emphasized that his administration is committed to working with anti-graft agencies like the EFCC and ICPC to hold individuals accountable for financial misconduct, making it contradictory to challenge these institutions.
The Attorney General’s suspension is indefinite, pending further explanations regarding his actions.
