On January 2, 2025, the Borno State Police Command successfully averted a potential explosion in Maiduguri by recovering three projectiles concealed inside a sack.
The discovery was made in the Dala Kafanti area after a resident, Asabe James, reported a suspicious sack behind her house.
The police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) team promptly responded, cordoned off the area, and safely retrieved the projectiles.
Preliminary investigations suggest that unknown individuals placed the ordnance at the location early that morning. In response, the police have intensified community sensitization on Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORE) and safety measures.
They urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious objects or activities. The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety and security.
