The Defense Headquarters (DHQ) of Nigeria has confirmed the emergence of a new terrorist group in the Northwest, identified as the Lukarawas.
According to military officials, the group is reportedly gaining traction in some parts of the region, posing a fresh security threat.
The Lukarawas are said to be involved in various criminal activities, including kidnappings, armed robberies, and attacks on local communities, further exacerbating the already volatile security situation in the area.
The DHQ has assured the public that security forces are actively monitoring the group’s activities and are implementing strategies to neutralize their operations.
Local and regional authorities are also working to strengthen security measures in the Northwest to prevent the spread of violence.
This development adds to the growing concerns over the increasing number of armed groups and banditry across Nigeria’s northern regions.
