Breaking News: Doctor Abduction in Anambra Sparks Widespread Outrage

Anambra Doctor Kidnapping: All You Need to Know About the Ongoing Investigation

On January 21, 2025, Dr. Collinus Onuigbo, a neurosurgeon at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi, Anambra State, was abducted by gunmen. The incident occurred in front of his residence, located just a few meters from the hospital, as he was returning from work.

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the abduction. Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga stated that the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono-Itam, has ordered a manhunt for the abductors and mobilized operatives to secure Dr. Onuigbo’s release.

This kidnapping comes shortly after Governor Chukwuma Soludo launched “Operation Udo ga-achị,” a joint security force aimed at combating crime and restoring peace in the state.
