Nigerian rapper Darlington Okoye, known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail after nearly a month in police custody.
He was arrested on November 27 during a performance in Owerri, Imo State, following allegations of verbal abuse directed at Afrofusion star Burna Boy.
The arrest was reportedly linked to Darlington’s comments about Burna Boy’s association with embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is facing multiple charges for sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Darlington’s lawyer, Stanley Alieke, confirmed the bail on Instagram, stating, “Akpi has been granted bail by the court.”
Another counsel, Deji Adeyanju, had earlier indicated that the court ordered Darlington’s arraignment within 48 hours or his release.
