The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has condemned the inhumane treatment of Nigeria’s Super Eagles during their trip to Libya for an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
The team experienced severe delays, with their flight being diverted to a remote airport, and they were stranded for over 13 hours without access to food or communication.
CAF has referred the matter to its disciplinary board for further investigation and promised action against those responsible.
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) also expressed outrage, stating that the Libyan authorities failed to provide basic hospitality, including transportation, which left the players in harsh conditions.
The Super Eagles ultimately decided not to proceed with the match due to safety concerns, sparking calls from both the Nigerian government and CAF for accountability.
