Abduction of Priest and Two Individuals in Rivers

On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Reverend Father Livinus Maurice, the Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Isokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, was abducted alongside two others while returning from a hospital visit along the Elele-Isiokpo Road.

The Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt confirmed the incident in a statement signed by Chancellor Reverend Father Bernadine Anaele, urging the faithful to pray for the safe and unconditional release of the priest and his companions.

The Rivers State Police Command, through spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, has acknowledged the abduction and stated that efforts are underway to ensure the victims’ safe return and to apprehend the perpetrators.
