Nasarawa Violence: Mother and Child Killed

In Nasarawa State, Nigeria, a tragic incident occurred on February 5, 2025, in the Gidan Rai community of Lafia Local Government Area. A mother and her child were killed, and several others sustained injuries due to a violent clash stemming from a chieftaincy dispute.

The conflict arose over disagreements concerning the selection of a new village head, leading to tensions between rival factions within the community. Local authorities have since deployed security personnel to the area to restore peace and order. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the violence.

The state government has called for calm and urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing the importance of resolving disputes through lawful and peaceful means.
