South Korean singer Wheesung, born Choi Whee-sung, was found dead at his Seoul home on March 11, 2025, at the age of 43.
Emergency responders discovered him in cardiac arrest after his mother reported concerns. Authorities noted no immediate signs of foul play but have ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death, considering his past struggles with drug abuse.
Wheesung debuted in 2002 and gained acclaim for blending R&B with K-pop, significantly influencing South Korea’s music scene. He was scheduled to perform in Daegu on March 15, but the event has been canceled following his passing.
Fellow artists have expressed their condolences, with rapper Verbal Jint stating, “Every moment we shared was an honor, and I’m grateful.”
Wheesung’s death adds to a series of recent tragedies in the South Korean entertainment industry, prompting discussions about the pressures faced by artists.
